Grinnall - Scorpion III Price: POA

Last Updated On: 30/04/2023

The Grinnall Scorpion III is an open two seat, three wheeled sports car, designed for use on both the road and track and is exhiliratingly quick to drive. According to one well-known motor magazine "...the throttle gives you the sort of kick in the back normally the preserve of F-14 pilots..."!

The minimalist open body is constructed from hand-made GRP which encloses a computer optimised steel tube spaceframe and is available in a virtually unlimited colour choice. Power comes from a range of BMW motorbike engines driving the Scorpion lll through either a five or six speed gearbox. As an example, performance figures for the K1100 engine are a 0-60mph (97km/h) time of approximately 5 seconds and a top speed of approximately 130mph (209km/h). Fuel consumption ranges from 35 to 50mpg. In 2012 the Scorpion lll was subject to several new developments, including a wider front track, which improves stability in corners.

The interior features include two orthopaedically designed seats made from aircraft grade, fire resistant upholstery, adjustable pedals and footrest, four point safety belts and twin T45 alloy steel roll over bars, plus BMW instrumentation.

A long list of optional extras includes traction control, push-button gear shifter, cockpit upgrade and waterproof cover and extra luggage facilities.

The Scorpion lll is also available as a self-build project.
